The Observatory will bring 2 telescopes and teach us about how to safely observe the sun and the moon.
Dr. Michael Galvin from the Muskegon Astronomical Society will show us how to use a star chart, teach us how to spot a satellite and other amazing phenomena in the night sky!
Do you think that Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and American astronaut John Glenn were first into space? Think again! A little dog name Laika was the first animal to orbit the earth. In the early days of rocket science, no one knew what the effects of weightlessness would be. Dogs, cats, monkeys, and chimps were used to test the safety of launching a living being into space and bringing it back to earth unharmed. "Animal Astronauts" will feature a variety of live mammals, reptiles, and birds to provide a fascinating and unforgettable program.
A NASA Ambassador talks about the Lunar Landing and what to look for in the night sky.
Explore the wonders of the night sky. An inflatable star filled planetarium will be in the Hart Community Center from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Everyone is invited to participate. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
Join Park Naturalist Elizabeth Tillman from Hoffmaster State Park to learn about spiders. Live spiders will be present. Each participant will receive a small web guide for identifying web types. The program will end with a simple craft. All children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
Investigate how gravity keeps the Moon in orbit around the Earth and what it takes to escape Earth's magnetic field to get to the Moon! Esperience the creation of moon craters and the challenges of landing safely on the varied surfaces of the Moon.
